Wild Alignment

by Samantha Lynn

Two years ago, we found this little acre in what felt like the most unlikely way.

At the time, we were living in Springwater and desperately searching for a new home—but every house we pursued was turning us away. Nothing seemed to align for us.

And then… this place appeared.

It had been on the market for months, completely overlooked, while other homes were being bought within days. It had a large fallen tree in the yard, overgrown gutters, and a heavy energy of neglect. I had spent years cleaning and tending other people’s homes and gardens, and with Chris being a skilled carpenter, we knew we had it in us to bring this place back to life.

Somehow, it all fell into place. And this house, this land, welcomed us.

It wasn’t pristine. But it was ready to be loved.

We could feel the home and the land responding.

As if it knew it was finally being tended to.

Here’s a little glimpse of the transformation —what our property looked like before, and what it’s becoming now.

From the very beginning, this land spoke to us.

Not in words, but in quiet nudges. We dug trenches to help the water flow more freely, allowed the grass to grow tall, and planted wildflowers and medicinal herbs throughout.

We knew we wanted to create more than just a garden. We wanted to offer a sanctuary. A place where others could come and remember.

Remember how to be present. How to play. How to dream again.

The meadow has become a place to reconnect—with Spirit, with the rhythms of nature, and with your own inner nature. A space to meet your inner child, your sense of imagination,

and that quiet knowing that lives within each of us.

We shaped the land into a space for community—a peaceful place for nature-based yoga, meditation, workshops, and moments of connection and unity.

What's Growing Now

While much of the field is filled with native grasses and asters that bloom in the fall, we’ve been gently introducing more color and medicinal plants throughout the year.

✿ Medicinal perennials like yarrow, comfrey, bee balm, calendula, arnica, St. John’s wort, and echinacea are flourishing here. With more on the way!

Cosmos have joined the landscape—not native, but deeply loved. Their blooms last long in vases and bring so much joy.

✿ We’ve begun shaping new spaces for reflection, connection, and meditation during our classes, plant walks, and gatherings.

In the spirit of co-creation, we’re also offering a playful practice to connect with the land wherever you are.

This Month’s Creative Corner: Create Your Own Nature Mandala

Let your creativity take you outdoors to create a mandala using only natural materials—petals, seeds, stones, sticks, leaves, pine cones—anything the earth offers you.

You could gather pieces during a walk, or forage gently from your own garden. You might create your mandala in one sitting—or build it slowly, over a few days.

Let nature speak to you and let yourself play. No need for it to be perfect, just unique.

Make it an intention, a meditation, or a quiet offering.

If you’d like to share your mandala, you can do so here. We'd love to see what you create!

What's Coming Up

We’re beginning to fill the calendar with offerings that feel aligned with the land.

Here’s a glimpse of what’s coming up:

— Wellness Wednesdays —

Practice yoga outdoors in the meadow and at parks across Rochester to ground, center, and connect with nature.

I also offer restorative yoga and beach yoga classes throughout the week.

You can check out the full schedule here.

— Monthly Tea Time —

Join my monthly Facebook Live, where we gather over tea and journal prompts to support deeper connection with self and nature's rhythms. Every 2nd Tuesday 7:30-8:30pm ET

Missed the most recent one? Watch the replay and connect with the journal prompts.

— Monthly Plant Walks —

Gather for a guided plant walk followed by a hands-on activity. This month we’ll be making handmade sage bundles using mugwort, sage, and meadow flowers.

While many of our offerings take place outdoors, some are held at welcoming indoor spaces that support the same sense of inner connection.

— Sound Bath with Jones Tones Sound Odyssey —

Unwind and reset your nervous system with restorative yoga, gentle energy work, and a galactic-inspired soundbath led by my partner, Christopher Jones.

Deep Roots

This little acre of ours is deeply inspired by the love and imagination of my inner child. She remembers Momma Earth—climbing sticky pine trees, sleeping in teepees, running as fast as she could barefoot through the grass, cooking food over a fire, making crafts out of nature findings, and being silly with friends.

Nature was her refuge.

Life was far from easy, but the forest floor, the whispering wind, and the quiet presence of Spirit brought her peace. Always reminding her she belonged.

Together, we’ve created a living, breathing relationship with this land and the community.

I’m learning to walk with it. To care for it. To trust that what’s meant to bloom… will.

Sometimes that means digging trenches and planting wildflowers.

Sometimes it means pausing, waiting, listening for next steps.

As I look out now across the meadow, I see more than just plants and paths. I see the quiet prayers of my ancestors woven into the roots.

I see all of you—those who’ve gathered here, or connected from afar, helping to shape what this place is becoming.

Here’s to all that’s still unfolding. To all that’s already taken root. And to all that’s yet to bloom!

Thank you all for walking this journey with me.

Namaste
