About the Event

Work together through the Eight Silken Movements practice of Qigong. Andy Roo will guide you through each of the simple movements. The practice of the meditation will be to connect the breath with each movement, and to even guide each movement with each inhale and exhale. All while noticing the movement of energy into, through, and out of our body, laying the groundwork for healing. There is a saying in Zen that looking through a great menu does not satisfy your hunger, so we need to do the practice of some form of meditation daily to find the fruits of stabilized awareness, and what a gift it is to also practice with others, so if you’re ready to discover the gifts the practice will bring, join us to get our feet in grass this summer.

About the teacher:

Andy McClain “AndyRoo” he/him: a Rochester resident for much of my life, have been practicing Zen meditation daily for over 14 years, spending 6.5 years as a resident staff member and student of Bodhin Roshi at the Rochester Zen Center (rzc.org), where I also learned Qigong Moving Meditation. Having benefited so greatly from the gifts of daily meditation practice, I feel moved to pass on one of the practices that has been super helpful for me as one who finds great medicine with moving meditation:  Qigong and the eight silken movements. I have been leading these sessions since October’22 and have received only positive feedback.
